Academic Life
Akhigbe’s educational journey began with her studies in Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State.
She later pursued a Master’s degree in Media, Communications, and PR at the University of Leicester, UK. To further enhance her skills and knowledge, she completed the Thomson Reuters Foundation Certificate Course in Advanced Business and Financial Reporting in London in 2009.

Foray into Journalism
Linda’s journey into broadcasting began during her mandatory one-year National Youth Service Scheme at the National Television Authority (NTA) Awka, Anambra State in 2005.
During this time, she served as a newscaster/reporter and was involved in the production and presentation of a weekly thirty-minute civic education program.
She also covered political activities and was responsible for reading the evening news.
After her time at NTA, she joined HotFM as a News Anchor/Correspondent between May 2006 and February 2008. Here, she reported extensively on international organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations, and the European Union.
She also played a crucial role in producing a weekly 30-minute voter education program.
Time at Channels TV
Linda’s passion for media led her to Channels Television in 2008, where she has been an integral part of the team for 15 years.
Her role began as a news reporter, focusing on Parliament with an emphasis on key legislations, critical Parliamentary interventions, and the legislative process.
She also reported on the activities of Political Parties and their key decisions. Throughout her time at Channels TV, Linda has reported on various significant events.
She covered the Presidential and Governorship elections in Nigeria and reported on social issues and terrorism in the country, including the abduction of the Chibok girls and the “BRING BACK OUR GIRLS” movement.
She has also reported on the activities of international organizations like the United Nations (UN), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
As an International Reporter, Linda covered International Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings held in different countries.
She produced a 30-minute documentary and special reports on the irregular migration of Africans to Europe in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Italy.
Additionally, she provided special coverage of the UN General Assembly in New York. Linda’s role also included News Anchoring and Production.
She anchored major news bulletins in English and conducted live studio interviews with Government officials, Federal Lawmakers, Political Analysts, and Policymakers.
As the Program Producer of “The Gavel,” a 30-minute weekly program, she highlighted the major activities in Nigeria’s Parliament and analyzed key legislative agendas and the legislative process.
Beyond her career, Linda is known for her deep appreciation of good music and her love for books.
