Biography
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu mni is the birthname of a popular man know as Nuhu Ribadu, his a former politician and police officer who was born on November 21, 1960 from Nigeria.
He served as the chairman of the Petroleum Revenue Task Force and a former anti-corruption official for the Nigerian government.
He served as the first Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a government agency in Nigeria entrusted with battling fraud and corruption.
He started working as a visiting fellow at the Center for Global Development in April 2009.
He remained in exile up until 2010, when he announced his intention to run for president of Nigeria on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) platform. Nuhu Ribadu was selected as the ACN’s presidential candidate on Friday, January 14, 2011.
He joined the PDP in August 2014 with the goal of running for governor of Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria.
Education
From 1980 to 1983, Ribadu pursued the study of law at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, earning a Bachelor of Laws degree. In 1984, after spending a year at the Nigerian Law School, he was admitted to the bar.
He also obtained his Master of Laws from the same college. He is a Senior Fellow at St. Antony’s College and a TED Fellow at the University of Oxford in the UK.
Corruption and EFCC
In 2003 and 2007, the Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo chose him to serve as chairman of the EFCC and promoted him to the level of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Three weeks before newly elected President Umaru Yar’Adua took the oath of office, a promotion that took place on April 9 of that year was later contested on the grounds that it was “illegal, unconstitutional, null and void, and of no legal effect.” Mike Okiro, the Inspector General of Police, announced in December 2007 that Ribadu will be relieved of his duties as EFCC chairman for a one-year training program.

However, this assertion has been debunked by the former governor, who pointed out that just because Ribadu deposited the funds with the CBN doesn’t mean he gave them to him. Before departing for the UK in early 2009, Ribadu evaded two murder attempts in Nigeria.
In December 2007, Inspector-General of Police Mike Okiro issued an order temporarily removing Ribadu from his post as EFCC chairman and mandating that he enroll in a one-year study at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.
Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka, members of the House of Representatives, and Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, national leader of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), among others, criticized the decision as politically motivated and/or likely to impede the battle against corruption.
He was discharged from the Nigerian Police Service Commission (PSC) on December 22, 2008, as was widely expected. After leaving Nigeria, he accepted a fellowship position at the Center for Global Development in April.
In order to run for president in the general elections of 2011, he came back and joined the ACN.

The World Bank’s 2008 Jit Gill Memorial Award for Outstanding Public Service was given to Nuhu Ribadu on April 15 in recognition of his leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria during a valiant anti-corruption campaign.
Mr. Ribadu was demoted from Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) to Deputy Commissioner of Police on August 4, 2008, according to the Police Service Commission of Nigeria. A few weeks before his 2007 term as president came to a close, former President Olusegun Obasanjo elevated Ribadu to the position of AIG.
His graduation at the NIPSS Kuru, Plateau State, was abruptly postponed on November 22, 2008.
