Mustafa Chike-Obi Biography

Current Fidelity Bank Nigeria Chairman Mustafa Chike-Obi served as Atiku Abubakar’s campaign organization’s economic adviser during the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.

Between 2010 to 2015, he served as Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria’s (“AMCON”) first Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

On July 19, 2010, AMCON was founded in accordance with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Act No. 4, 2010 with the goal of effectively resolving the non-performing loan assets of Nigerian banks.

Mustafa Chike-Obi did a commendable job during his five years as MD/CEO of AMCON, garnering praise and admiration from all parties involved in Nigeria’s banking and financial services sector.

He presently serves as Alpha African Advisory Limited’s Executive Vice-Chairman.

From 2001 to 2006, he served as managing director of Shoreline Group. From 1992 to 1995, Mustafa Chike-Obi served as the co-head of emerging markets trading at Bear Stearns & Co.

He was named chairman of Fidelity Bank Nigeria PLC on July 6th, 2020. Mustafa Chike-Obi has been appointed as the new chairman of the board of directors, according to Fidelity Bank.

The Central Bank of Nigeria accepted the appointment, and it will go into effect on August 14, 2020, when Mr. Ernest Ebi’s term as chairman expires.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Jalade, Omotola Ekeinde Listen, MFR is a Nigerian actress, singer, philanthropist, and former model. She was born Omotola Jalade on February 7, 1978. Since making her Nollywood debut in 1995, Ekeinde has starred in more than 300 movies, many of which have sold millions of copies.

Omotola is the first and only celebrity from Nigeria to get more than one million likes on her Facebook profile. Currently, she has 3 million Facebook fans overall.

Early life and education

Born in Lagos State, Omotola Jalade is of Ondo ancestry. Tayo and Bolaji Jalade, her parents’ two younger brothers, were also around as she grew up. Her father, Oluwashola Jalade, worked at the YMCA and the Lagos Country Club, and her mother, Oluwatoyin Jalade, née Amori Oguntade, was employed by J.T. Chanrai Nigeria. She attended the Command Secondary School in Kaduna (1988–1993), the Oxford Children School (1987), the Chrisland School in Opebi (1981–1987), and Santos Layout. She studied Estate Management from 1996 to 2004 at Yaba College of Technology after a brief stay at Obafemi Awolowo University. At first, she was interested in a career in business management. However, she started modeling to make a living as she awaited her university results.

Career

Acting and Music Career

Ekeinde first became interested in acting while going to an audition with a friend. Her debut performance was in Reginald Ebere’s 1995 film Venom of Justice. She was granted the movie’s lead role. In the 1995 movie Mortal Inheritance, she played a sickle-cell patient who battled for her life against slim chances of survival. This was her first significant acting job. She has since acted in a number of movies, such as Games Women Play, Blood Sisters, All My Life, Last Wedding, My Story, The Woman in Me, and others.

She won “Best Actress in an English Speaking Movie” and “Best Actress Overall” at the 1997 Movie Awards for her performance in Mortal Inheritance.

She received this award at the time as the youngest actress in Nigeria.
She starred in multiple sequel movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s, such as Blood Sister II, Kosorogun II, and Lost Kingdom II, earning her the grand achiever award from the Global Excellence Recognition Awards in 2004. In 2005, she received the Best Actress in a Supporting Role honor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Ekeinde obtained her first big feature part in the 2010 film “Ije” after shooting almost 300 short films. The locations for this movie were in both Jos and the US.At the time, “Ije” had the biggest box office performance in Nollywood; Phone Swap (2012) later surpassed this record.

She starred in the thriller Last Flight to Abuja from Nollywood in 2012, which went on to earn the second-highest box office total in West African cinemas that year. She has since won more than forty national and international accolades.

Ekeinde, who has made appearances in over 200 movies, celebrated her 20th anniversary in the entertainment business in 2015. Ekeinde and fellow Nigerian Femi Odugbemi were invited to participate as voting members at the Academy Awards in June 2018.

Ekeinde launched a music career in 2005 with the release of her debut album titled “gba”. The album produced the singles “Naija Lowa” and “The Things You Do To Me.” Her unreleased second album – Me, Myself, and Eyes, brought in production from Paul Play and Del B. It was supported by the songs “Feel Alright”, featuring Harrysong, and “Through the Fire”, featuring Uche.

Lately 2012, Ekeinde began working on her third album and enlisted the help of The Bridge Entertainment. She went to Atlanta, Georgia in the United States to work with producers and songwriters who could help create a sound that would resonate with American audiences.

She had studio sessions with Kendrick Dean, Drumma Boy and Verse Simmonds and recorded a song with singer Bobby V.

Reality show

In 2012, Ekeinde also debuted Omotola: The Real Me, a reality television program that was broadcast on DStv by Africa Magic Entertainment, an M-Net subsidiary. She was the first famous person from Nigeria to get her own reality show.

Philanthropy

In 2005, Ekeinde was appointed an ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme, traveling to missions in Sierra Leone and Liberia. She also supports organizations that promote young people and women in society, such Charles Odii’s SME100 Africa. She has been involved in the Walk the World initiative and joined President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Liberia for the Walk the World campaign.

Her human rights campaign work is centered on her NGO project, called the Omotola Youth Empowerment Program (OYEP). This undertaking brought hundreds of youths together for the Empowerment Walk and Convention. She lent her voice in 2010 to the “Rewrite The Future” campaign of Save The Children UK.

She became an Amnesty International campaigner in 2011 and has participated in campaigns in Sierra-Leone (Maternal Mortality) and a 2012 campaign for the Niger Delta in Nigeria, where she shot a video asking Shell plc and the government to “own up, clean up, pay up| and take responsibility for the oil spills in the Niger Delta.

In June 2020, she visited an orphanage home in Tanzania run by Tanzania Mitindo House which focuses on HIV infected children, with Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu.

Ekeinde and actresses Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Daniel Effiong, Meg Otanwa, Michelle Dede, and Osas Ighodaro committed to cease smoking in their movie scenes since it had a bad impact on young kids who looked forward to them and to promote the 2021 World No Tobacco Day and the #SmokeFreeNollywood campaign.A sub-Saharan public strategy company named Gatefield and a US non-profit group called Tobacco-Free Kids supported the campaign.

Awards and recognition

Ekeinde has a regular column in OK! Nigeria Magazine titled “Omotola’s Diary”, which features writings about her life and experiences. On 5 November 2013, she received the Ebony Vanguard Award at the Music Video and Screen Awards (MVISA) held in Birmingham, England. On 9 November 2013, Oba Victor Kiladejo, the Royal king of Ondo Kingdom conferred on Omotola a chieftaincy title in her hometown of Ondo State.

In 2012, CNN Travel included Ekeinde’s accent on their list of the “world’s twelve sexiest accents in 2012.

The Nigerian accent ranked fifth on the list. In 2013, she was included in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Ekeinde was included in the list of Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2013.
