Mextures is a new, easy-to-use photo editing app that lets you add multiple filters and textures to your photos. I use Mextures all the time because it’s so much easier than opening up Photoshop or other complicated apps.
It has an intuitive drag and drop interface with tons of different options for customizing every aspect of my pictures (textures, colors). It’s perfect for Instagram photos and I especially love that itO Cam , one of our favorite photo editors. Here is how to use Mextures.
Step 1: Download & Install Mextures
Of course, the first thing you’ll need to do is download the app from iTunes or Google Play . Then, you’ll just open the app like any other on your phone.
Step 2: Take a Photo and/or Import One
From here, tap “Take Picture” to snap one with your front or rear camera. If you’d like to import a photo from your gallery instead, tap that option at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Select a Filter
After you’ve taken or imported your photo, you’ll be taken to Mextures’ home screen. You’ll see three options for editing your pictures: Textures, Effects and Adjustments. To start with effects, tap that option at the top of the screen. From there, swipe left or right to view all the effects.
Step 4: Apply an Effect and Adjust It
The first effect at the top of my screen is “Lively,” so I’m going to tap that. When you do, it will add it immediately to your photo with a preview on the right side of screen. From here, you can adjust the effect by swiping left or right on your photo. The “slider” at the bottom of the screen can be moved, as well, which just moves the effect around depending on where you put it. If you don’t like a particular effect, tap “X” in corner to remove it.
Have little too much to take in but don’t worry — it’s not. First, swipe left or right to see all the textures (the effects are organized by category on a slider below). They will automatically be applied to your photo depending on the effect you have they’re not, just tap the texture and it will appear above your photo.
From here, adjust it as you did before by swiping left or right and moving the “slider.” Once again, if you don’t like a texture, tap on the “X” in the corner to remove it. You can apply multiple textures to your photo if you choose, which gives you endless options.
Step 5: Add a Frame & Crop Your Photo
You should now see all the different options at your disposal on Mextures’ home screen. If you want to add another effect or texture, just tap “Add” in the top right corner of your screen.
To add a frame, tap “Frames” at the top of the screen. This is where you can choose from a variety of different frames depending on what style you’re going for with your photo. To use one, swipe left or right to view all the frames and pick one that you like.
Finally, tap “Crop” at the bottom of your screen to crop your photo. From here, just drag the cropping box over your picture and adjust it by dragging the corners up or down. Then, tap “Crop.”
You can always go back and edit your photos at any time in Mextures. One option I love is to edit one of my photos with a bunch of different textures and effects, save it, then apply the same settings to other photos later on.
